Unless you’re one of the lucky ladies in this world to be born with flawless skin (Keira Knightley, if you’re reading this, we’re talking to you) you’ve probably struggled with skin imperfections at some point or another. Dark spots, in particular, are a sore spot for anyone who has to deal with them. Some cases are severe enough to need the help of a dermatologist, but many cases aren’t serious enough for professional help even though they still need attention and care. Below are some common reasons dark spots come about:

  • Genes: Sometimes the luck of the draw is not so lucky, and our skin is just naturally unevenly pigmented. Often spots can go away with time, but some stay unless they’re treated.
  • Sun Damage: This can be prevented by using a strong enough SPF (all year long, not just in the summer) but if you’ve got dark spots from sun damage, you can treat them.
  • Acne Scars: As much as you may want to end a pimple’s life immediately, it’s best not to touch it besides treating it with face wash. Popping zits can lead to scarring and dark spots that are a way worse problem to deal with than the original pimple.

We’ve taken a look around for some of the best dark spot correctors at every price range to bring you solutions to your dark problems. Take a look at our picks for favorite dark spot correctors and let us know which works for you!

  1. I am currently using the serum from Shiseido White Lucent line. It may be expensive but it definetly gets rid of stubborn acne scars. I also find it very moisturizing. So far it’s the only thing that works for me as hydroquine seriously burns my senstive skin.

Thank you for your review of top 10 dark spot correctors. Just a point of information … dark spots can also be a consequence of preganancy … a reaction called a “pregnancy mask” which is characterized by patches of discoloration that develop during pregnancy and often stay after the baby is born.

i have had acne scars for yrs. some come and go. i have used everything under the sun but i just want something potent enough to remove and/or lighten them where they can become invisble with light makeup. I think i have become tolerant because i used so many products. can that happen?

  4. ashley says:

and i am currectly using proactive dark spot corrector with dr. fred summit skin whitner, using only overnight. it seems to be working but i have to remain consistent

  5. sanna says:

I like to use the Obagi clarifying C-serum. You can apply it morning and night and I can definitely say it is one of the few products out there that actually works. It is a little pricey but definetly worth it and if you look for it on dermpoint.com you can get it with free shipping. Easy and convenient
