The Faux Bob: How to Get Shorter Hair With No Commitment

Posted by December 20, 2013 12:45 pm

Want a shorter hairstyle but not a cut? The faux bob was meant for you.

Step 1: Start by curling your entire head of hair to add texture.

Step 2: Part your hair in the center and curl on each side of your head.

Step 3: Gather your hair at the nape of your neck, slightly twisting it up and under and pinning.

Step 4: Gently pull out a few of the curls, letting them fall down and around your face, hiding the excess hair that's pinned up.

Enjoy fooling all of your friends into thinking you got a real bob haircut!

It seems like every time we go on Pinterest, our feed is flooded with gorgeous pictures of bob haircuts. Of course we pin these to a “Hairstyle Ideas” board, but the thought of actually chopping our long locks in favor of a short hairstyle is a little intimidating. Thankfully, the faux bob came into our lives, so we can have the best of both worlds with a short hairstyle and no commitment.

For an expert’s advice on how to style a faux bob, we turned to hairstylist Josue Perez. Above, he explains exactly how to get this faux bob look that’s perfect for the holiday party season!
