Ladies who love braids, stop everything you’re doing, because you need to see <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/101-braids-hairstyles-how-to/"title="this braid" target="_blank">this braid. Spotted on Beth Behrs of “Two Broke Girls” at the premiere of “Monsters University,” this beyond gorgeous fishtail/milkmaid braid hybrid is pretty much the most gorgeous hairstyle we’ve seen all summer. Needing to know every single detail about the look, we turned to celebrity hairstylist <a href="http://www.starworksartists.com/hair/aviva/portfolio/"title="aviva perea" target="_blank" target="_blank">Aviva Perea, the mastermind behind Beth’s stunning style, to get the how to for this look. Below are her step-by-step directions for getting the look, plus the exact products she used. Read on!

Aviva began by prepping the hair with <a href="http://www.oribe.com/index.php/products/view/50"title="oribe" target="_blank">Oribe’s Foundation Mist and roughly dried the hair with her fingers. Then, she wrapped one inch sections of hair around <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/t3-singlepasswhirl-styling-wand/3205855"title="t3" target="_blank" target="_blank">T3′s Styling Wand, alternating directions with each section. She then doused the hair with <a href="http://www.dove.us/Products/Hair/Shampoos/Invigorating-Dry-Shampoo.aspx"title="dove dry shampoo" target="_blank" target="_blank">Dove’s Invigorating Dry Shampoo, which gave it amazing texture and helped the braids stay in place. Next, Aviva made four braids- two on each side of the head, close to the ears. Starting each braid with a <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/fishtail-braid-how-to-10-best-video-tutorials-on-youtube/"title="fishtail braid" target="_blank">fishtail, she ended each braid with a regular braid for extra texture. Finally, she wrapped the braids around the head just behind the bangs, securing with bobby pins. Gorgeous, right?

Teri is an NYC based blogger with a fashion photo-driven Tumblr, alawys creative Pinterest account, and entertaining Twitter account. Her mix of photography, quotes, and eye for style on sartorialgirl.tumblr.com continues to inspire fashionista’s everywhere. Eager to see inside the lives of our favorite style bloggers, we follow her as she preps for an industry meeting. Be sure to check out her routine in the slideshow above, plus Try On! her final look with just 1-click below!

One of the many things that I pride myself in as a hustling New Yorker is my ability to impulsively multi-task and find shortcuts. Whether I am schlepping around midtown with beauty samples or trying to put a message across on social media in 140 characters or less, I will find myself using a shortcut in almost every task. That does not exclude my daily morning routine. I am usually up and out the door in about half an hour and this is without cutting out important things, like doing my hair, which for most girls is the most time-consuming. Vidal Sassoon Pro Series products are a great and affordable way to maintain beautiful salon-quality hair, all from the comfort of your home.

I work in the marketing office of a beauty line and this week, I have a number of meetings lined up including one with a renowned 5th Avenue retailer and a few PR presentations with new potential agencies. Because I am usually running on little sleep, too much caffeine, and limited time, I use my juggling skills to put myself together in such a way that will take me from my morning appointment into my afternoon meeting without, god-willing, turning into a hot mess. My go-to trick: an all-black ensemble, simple jewelry, a great pair of heels, and rocking a smooth, wavy hairdo.

When a show nabs the record for Most Tweeted Season Premiere in TV History, attention must be paid. As if we needed another reason to be obsessed with Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily any more, the “Pretty Little Liars” Season Four premiere roped in more than three million viewers (including us), and besides just knowing what will happen next to the girls, fans everywhere want to know the secrets to looking like the “Liars.” From their beyond gorgeous, voluminous waves to the braided hairstyles that instantly create envy, the girls of “Pretty Little Liars” have just about the best hair in the business. We caught up with Kim M. Ferry, the head hairstylist for the show (and nine year hairstylist veterean on NBC’s “The Office”) to get all of her inside tips, tricks and details about how <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/lucy-hale-new-face-mark-cosmetics/"title="lucy hale" target="_blank">Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Troian Bellisario have nothing but good hair days on set. From hair extensions to <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/10-hairstyles-for-hair-chalk/"title="hair chalking" target="_blank">hair chalking, Kim knows it all!

Beauty High: Each of the girls have perfect voluminous, sultry waves. What’s the technique for getting this hairstyle?

Kim M. Ferry: When I joined the show this season, I made sure I watched every episode of the first three seasons. I saw immediately why wardrobe and makeup on the show were creating excitement and inspiration for the fans. The PLL’s looked simply amazing. Their makeup was flawless and if I was going to join this talent, I would have to aim to do the same with the Hair Department. Season 4 finds our PLL’s with longer, flowing hair. We are embracing and designing the <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/5-easy-tricks-to-getting-the-perfect-beach-wave/"title="beach wave" target="_blank">“beach wave” look for a softer, more carefree style. We still maintain the youthful feel by letting hair hang around their faces and drift past their shoulders. By using one inch wide hot curling irons, we wrap two inch hair sections vertically around the barrel, hold for 4-5 seconds and then let the hair fall into place to cool in a hanging position. This angle helps to give the effect that they walked out of the ocean and let their hair dry in the sun. The girls’ characters have been through a lot in Season Four. “A” is really wearing them all down, so we’re trying to keep that in mind, reflecting that in the “on camera” hairstyles you will see. But don’t worry – they will still style! To help replace any moisture lost during the process, I like to use <a href="http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/natural-essentials-strengthening-dry-oil-monoi-dragonfruit/ID=prod6181153-product"title="natural essentials healing dry oil" target="_blank" target="_blank">Natural Essentials Healing Dry Oil to help nourish dry, damaged ends.

Do you use hair extensions for the show? For fans who want extensions, what are some do’s and dont’s when getting them?

I do use extensions for the show, and have used extensions for every show I have worked on. My favorite is actually something fans could make themselves. They are “pop-in” wefts. I buy human hair wefts (they come in many natural and bold colors) – many wig stores have them or you can order online – I hand sew “toupee clips” onto the top of the wefts. Some wefts come with the toupee clips sewn in. I use 2-3 wefts per head. And if you have a part from mid-ear to mid-ear, then tease the hair at the part, and just pop in the weft. Make another part 2 inches higher and tease, then pop in weft. Bam! Instant fullness and length. Have your hairstylist cut it to the right length for you. YouTube videos are great for learning how to apply wefts, too.

When Ashley Benson cut her long hair, was it Ashley’s decision or was it to give her character Hanna an edgier feel?

<a href="http://beautyhigh.com/pretty-liars-star-ashley-benson-talks-nail-art-obsession-musthave-lipsticks/"title="ashley benson" target="_blank">Ashley wanted to change her hair into a shorter, more versatile look. Her current length looks really great on her, the hair just passes her shoulders, and gives us more layers to play with. It’s beautiful, but then again, she would look good in anything!

What’s the process like when you’re coming up with hairstyles for each character?

Most of the girls that I work with have or want long hair. It’s so versatile – you can braid it twist it, tease it and make lovely California beach waves. Color is a big part too. I am taking into account trends, such as lightening the ends of the hair. Slight highlights (only on the tips) can make a great illusion of <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/balayage-ombre-highlights-technique/"title="summer highlights" target="_blank">summer highlights. I like to experiment! <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/10-hairstyles-for-hair-chalk/"title="hair chalk" target="_blank">Hair chalk is another fun way to try out bold colors without the commitment of a permanent hair color.

There are a ton of fun braided hairstyles on the show – what are the keys to getting the perfect braid when you’re doing it yourself?

<a href="http://beautyhigh.com/braid-claire-julien-bling-ring-home/"title="braids" target="_blank">Braids are quickly becoming a sumer staple for long haired women. Not only does it stay in place in humid temperatures, it is an easy style to DIY. YouTube is a great way to learn! I’ve been a stylist for decades now, and I keep learning new ways to do hair from it. Pick up a good tail comb, I really like bone combs, they’re great for parting hair. Be sure to use a weightless, protective layer (that doesn’t leave film on the fingers after use!) to help keep the braid in place. That’s what I love most about dry oil, like the Natural Essentials Strengthening Dry Oil, it doesn’t weigh hair down, leaving it flat or greasy looking like other oils.

How does the hair on “Pretty Little Liars” differ from shows you’ve worked on in the past?

It’s very different. I was on “The Office” for the last nine years. For the character Angela, we experimented and I created a braided headband for her, out of her own hair. On “Bunheads,” I’ve used wire and wire cutters to create fun looks for special dance numbers for the ballet shows the cast would perform. Now, on “Pretty Little Liars,” I am focused on interesting, glamorous yet functional looks for our leading ladies. I want to create hair that will inspire fans to want their hair to look like our PLL’s. Discovering new styles and keeping in step with fashion is a fun challenge.

What’s your favorite hairstyle to create for the show?

I am really loving the beach waves we have going on right now. But, we have had a few fun episodes that let our creativity flow! Watch this season to find out what those challenges were. My hair team and I have a great time trying different styles and determining what look works best for what we are filming in that episode, but every style needs to be done with time considerations in mind. We have to work fast to keep the set moving along!

Are there any major hair changes we can look forward to in the new season (like a cut or color change)?

Any new changes? Oh, that’s a secret….and if I tell, “A” will get mad at me.

We don’t know about you, but we’re obsessed with “The Voice.” As fans of great music, we love watching the performances. As fans of beauty, we’re totally into the amazing hairstyles and fresh makeup we see each week.

We’re down to the wire now (the finale is TONIGHT) and one of our vocal and beauty favorites, Danielle Bradbery, has made it to the final round. We love her fresh approach to beauty, particularly the fabulous variations of the Dutch waterfall braid she’s been working on stage (seen above with her coaches’ wife, Miranda Lambert). We stopped by the amazing John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman to talk to stylist and maven-of-all-things-braids Halli Bivona about how to get Danielle’s amazing braid. Here’s how she says you can steal the look for yourself:

1. Start with a natural wave

“The key to Danielle’s look is the texture, particularly the wave to her hair. If you have naturally wavy or slightly curly hair, your texture is perfect, but if not, just blow your hair out with a round brush, then use a 1″ curling iron and wrap 1″ sections of your mid-lengths (right above the ears) around the barrel, twisting the curling iron while you’re pulling the hair through. By twisting it, you’re stretching the curl so you’ll get a nice, beachy wave and a great base for the braid.

2. Get the braid

First, create a deep side part, then create the braid by taking three separate sections and weaving them. If you want an inside braid that will lie flat, work the outside sections of the braid toward the middle. If you want a raised Dutch braid, like Danielle’s, weave the middle section toward the outside.

Start from the front and braid your way to about halfway around your head. Repeat this on the other side, then crisscross the ends together under your hair and seal them with an elastic. Another fun approach is to pull your hair into a ponytail and wrap the ends of te braids around the base, securing them with bobby pins.

3. Seal the deal

I like to finish with Shu Uemura Essence Absolue; it’s amazing for adding shine and keeping frizzies away. A light spritz of hairspray will help it stay secured, but not too much or it’ll get stiff. I like to add a little just in case you want to sleep on the style and maintain it for a couple of days. It’s a great, easy look!

Name: Maria
Occupation: Parsons The New School student

Getting the sexy, “just rolled out of bed” look is something that every girl strives for – testing out a myriad of sea salt sprays and dry shampoos in order to get the look just right. Plus, we won’t even begin to discuss the effort we go to in order to roll our hair up into loose buns or braids at night attempting to get that perfect bedhead curl, trying to sleep just delicately enough on our hair not to crinkle it too much (and of course ending up with a crick in our neck instead).

Well folks, design student Maria, pictured above, shows off the look we’ve all been aiming for – with just a touch of a disheveled texture at the bottom of her long hair. Pulling her hair off her face, Maria shows off her loosely tousled locks (and we’re loving her Ralph Lauren sunglasses). To get the look, try this tip that we recently learned from a hairstylist: instead of fully braiding your wet hair, divide into multiple small sections and twist just two strands around each other, repeating as you make your way around your head – the finished look will look a bit like dreadlocks. Sleep on this style (which can be wrapped in a scarf to prevent frizz), and when you wake up, undo the braids and tousle your hair. The result will be a looser wave (with less crimping in the wrong areas). Spritz with a bit of sea salt spray if desired, and get ready to be shot by street style photographers!

Of all the up and coming stars hitting the red carpet these days, Victoria Justice is easily one of our favorites. Since her time on “Zoey 101″ and “Victorious” on Nickelodeon, Victoria has been building quite the resume, working on her music albums and upcoming tour, feature films with co-stars like Chelsea Handler, and of course, inspiring trending topics on Twitter while being able to boast over 5 million followers. Still, with all of this fame, <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/week-michelle-wiliams-victoria-justice/"title="victoria" target="_blank">Victoria is outspoken about never taking things for granted and she isn’t quick to shy away from being supportive of others. A girl who can rock a <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/emily-blunts-exact-vibrant-red-lip/"title="red lip" target="_blank">red lip on a red carpet and be your BFF all at once? Yeah, we’re obsessed. Her latest single, “Gold” is being released on iTunes tomorrow, and before Victoria hits the road for her summer tour with the boys of Big Time Rush, we wanted to catch up with her makeup artist, Lusine Galadjian, owner of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Chateaudeluce?hc_location=timeline"title="chateau de luce" target="_blank" target="_blank">Chateau De Luce Salon in LA, to get the scoop on Victoria’s famous fresh faced-makeup look, her must-have products, and more. Read on below!

Beauty High: Victoria’s look has really evolved since her Nickelodeon days. How have you worked with her to make her style into what it is today?

Lusine Galadjian: I’ve tried to keep her still looking young and fresh, but we’ve added a bit more of an edge to her look. She’s grown so much in the last five years and I’ve had a great time working with her.

What’s the process like choosing her looks for the tour versus the red carpet?

When it comes to the red carpet, I like to keep her look fresh, clean and glowing. I like to introduce a little something different without making her look like a different person each time. This has been a big hit with beauty press and red carpet commentators – her clean look is becoming something she’s known for and I take pride in that. For the tour, we make sure her makeup is going to stand out for performances and stay on while she’s running around on stage, while keeping the look as close to herself as possible.

We always see Victoria with enviable eye makeup. What are some tips for getting this gorgeous look at home?

Her go-to eye makeup is just very neutral shadow colors, <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/product-testing-top-5-eyeliners-eyes-pop/"title="black gel eyeliner" target="_blank">black gel liner with a slight wing and lots of mascara, especially in the outer corners. My biggest tip is to keep it easy and clean. Believe it or not, less is more!

How does Victoria keep her skin so flawless? What’s her skincare routine like?

She’s very good about washing her makeup off every single night and using moisturizers and eye creams. It’s really important to start to take care of your skin early to prevent any premature aging. Victoria loves <a href="http://www.neutrogena.com/product/oil-free+moisture+broad+spectrum+spf+35.do"title="neutrogena oil-free moisturizer with spf" target="_blank" target="_blank">Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF.

Are there any products you can’t work without?

I do love my <a href="http://www.beautyblender.net/"title="beauty blender" target="_blank" target="_blank">beauty blender – I take it everywhere. With Vic specifically, it helps to blend her foundation and enhances that flawless look that she’s becoming so loved for.

What’s your favorite look to create on Victoria? Are there any looks you’re dying to try?

My favorite look on Vic is a nice clean eye with liner, lots of mascara and a pretty lip. My mind goes to a look I did on her for the Met Ball last year – I absolutely loved that look. I’d love to try edgier looks on her, but it’s all based on the type of work we’re doing together. Maybe a smokey cat eye with nude lips. We’re getting there, and as she grows, so does the creativity! She’s always open to try new things and that makes working with her so much fun. She’s one of my favorite clients.

With a new beauty product popping up practically every day, learning how to properly use certain items can get overwhelming. Sure, we’re being inundated with new products like <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/we-break-down-the-best-cc-creams-to-perfect-your-complexion/"title="cc cream" target="_blank">CC cream and caviar nail polish, but when it comes to the basics, what’s the point of using beauty products if you’re using them incorrectly? We’re big believers in making the most of your <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/how-to-clean-every-tool-makeup-bag/"title="makeup bag" target="_blank">makeup bag, and after picking up so many tips and tricks for how to use beauty products over the years, it’s only right to share these tips with you. Below are 10 beauty products you haven’t been using properly, and the simple tweaks for how to get the most out of your products so that you look your best.

Mascara. Once you’ve found a mascara wand and formula that works best for your eyelashes, the best way to apply it to your eye is by holding the wand horizontally at the base of your top lashes, gently shaking the wand at the base, and moving upward and out. Putting emphasis at the start of your lashes will ensure <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/cheap-trick-maybelline-the-falsies-big-eyes-mascara/"title="maximum volume" target="_blank">maximum volume and shaking the wand will get more mascara onto the lashes. If you’re prone to getting extra mascara on your eyelid, use a plastic spoon (or business card) and hold it over your lid as you’re applying mascara so the excess product goes on the spoon, not your lid. If you do get any mascara where it shouldn’t be, quickly run a cotton swab under water, just enough to get it slightly damp, and use the cotton to remove any unwanted mascara.

Eyeliner. If you’re using a pencil and it won’t go on smoothly, you can heat up the tip of the pencil a bit with a blow dryer or a lighter, and the heat will make it glide right on. Also, use your <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/28-days-28-liners/"title="eyeliner" target="_blank">eyeliner to make your eyes look larger instead of closing them up by only lining the outer two-thirds of your bottom lash line. Leaving the last third of your lash line unlined will make it appear lighter, and you can accentuate this by lining the inner third with white eyeliner.

Hair Oil. If you’re using hair oil to give your locks some extra moisture when they’re dried out, be sure not to counteract the process by applying to wet hair and heat styling right after. If you think of cooking food with oil in a frying pan, putting a hair straightener or curling iron on your hair directly after hair oil will simply fry your hair. Your best course of action is to apply the hair oil and let your hair air dry, and only use a heat styling tool if necessary.

Perfume. Though we constantly see actresses in movies or on TV shows spraying a huge cloud of perfume and walking into it, it’s actually best to apply fragrance to your pulse points. By applying to these certain points and not just willy nilly around you, the pulse points are where your blood vessels are closest to your skin, so they act as mini pumps for your perfume, making it last longer. The pulse points you can apply to are your wrists, behind your ears, the crooks of your arms and knees, and if you want an extra boost, your ankles.

Foundation. Before you apply foundation, remember to moisturize. For those of you who apply foundation on a regular basis, apply foundation before concealer. Use a beauty blender for best application or your hand, but whichever you use, blend from the center of your face out. This way, you’ll have much less chance of getting a foundation line along your jaw that’s a dead giveaway for wearing makeup. The more you blend, the more natural it’ll look.

Blush. Often times, our mothers will show us to apply blush all the way to the hairline, but this can make you look harsh and unnatural. Smile as you’re ready to apply blush and lightly apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks, blending just a bit. If you’re in a pinch and don’t have blush, you can use a lipstick as a cheek stain; simply apply with your fingers and blend.

Eyebrow Pencil. Bold brows have most certainly been a trend for the past few seasons, and we don’t anticipate them going anywhere anytime soon. Something to note, however, is that there’s a difference between <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/watch-how-to-full-bold-brows/"title="bold brows" target="_blank">bold brows and drawn on brows. To enhance your own without looking like you took a permanent marker to your face, use an eyebrow pencil two shades lighter than your own eyebrows. That way, when you fill in your brows, it looks natural and enhanced, not scary and dramatic.

SPF. The biggest mistake here is not using SPF on a regular basis, and the easiest fix is to start using a <a href="http://beautyhigh.com/need-start-using-anti-aging-products-in-your-twenties/"title="moisturizer that contains spf" target="_blank">moisturizer that contains SPF. Let the SPF dry and settle in for about 20 minutes before you go in the sun, and if you’re spending the day outside, you should be reapplying your sunscreen every two hours or so. If you’re not reapplying while you’re out in the sun, you’re losing out on the benefits of the SPF and therefore putting your skin at risk for sun damage.

Eyelash Curler. First, do not use an eyelash curler once your mascara is on and dry. The force of the curler pushing your lashes together will only make your mascara clump, plus the curler may get stuck to the mascara, and pulling it off your lashes can cause lashes to be pulled out. Instead, use an eyelash curler on clean lashes, before applying mascara. For an extra boost of curl, blow dry the lash curler for about 30 seconds. The heat will help hold the curl, just as a curling iron does for your hair.

Bobby Pins. To hold hair in place more sturdily, use two bobby pins criss-crossed and there’s much less chance of the bobby pin slipping. Also, by spraying the bobby pins with hairspray before pinning your hair, they’ll stick to your hair just a bit more and you’ll get much more hold.
