Kate Upton: Fat or Flawless?

Kate Upton: Fat or Flawless? Just as our society has begun to ease up (albeit not completely abandon) the pressures on women to be impossibly thin and gorgeous 24/7, someone decides to attack Kate Upton for not being the thinnest girl on the runway. For anyone unfamiliar with Kate, she’s been causing quite an uproar with women and men alike, really embodying the saying “Men want her and women want to be her” as a GQ cover girl and all around pop culture sensation. She’s blonde, tan, and has an ideal body, though the criteria for an “ideal” body these days is a bit blurred.

Yet despite becoming famous for her curves, Skinny Gossip, a “pro-skinny “blog, is all but waging war on Miss Upton. A recent posting featured the least flattering pictures available, calling her a “little piggy” with “huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition” who “confidently lumbers up the runway like there’s a buffet at the other end of it” — Skinny Gossip is taking no prisoners.

We are completely on the Kate Upton bandwagon. We’re saddened to think that in a society where women are becoming accepted at every size and becoming equals on most playing fields, that women would attack other women. Even in a culture where we’re so concerned with beauty, it’s critical to understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there is no one definition of a beautiful woman. Kate Upton is one of the best examples of a woman who isn’t bone thin but who is still loved due to her curves, and this message is one that needs to be sent to girls growing up with societal pressures. Hopefully we’ll get to a point in our culture where people won’t be attacked by each other for how they look or what size jeans they wear. For now, all we can do is promote finding a way to look your personal best.

  1. It’s sites like those that perpetuate insecurity. Health is the most important thing and curves are healthy. Skinny doesn’t mean healthy OR pretty. So saddening that pro-skinny blogs still exist.

It’s not that she’s fat, but the criticism comes from the shape of her body. Kate is probably only 130 pounds. She has a stunning face and great natural breast.
Her waist is extremely wide. I am all for bigger girls in the magazines. But most plus sized or natural models have nice figure-eight shapes (like Kim Kardashian and Marilyn Monroe). Girls with curves are hot, but I’m sorry, girls who are thick are not. Kate Upton doesn’t look at all healthy or fit. She has an amazing personality and gorgeous face. Just a little Pilates, and she’s a 10. But, I like the trend towards different types of models.

I’m sorry but personally Kate is thick and has a piggy nose, not an attractive face. That’s just my thoughts personally. I know a lot of people think she is pretty, but I’m not one of them. I think there are A LOT more models out there with much pretty faces and more toned in shape bodies. I’m not saying Kate should be anorexic like a lot of runway models, that’s gross, but she is more “porn” like than “model” like. I don’t find her body attractive at all, and think she resembles “miss piggy in the face, and she is more “Marilyn Monroe” like than say a true beauty like “Grace Kelly”. Not saying Kate is busted or anything like that, I just think she is wayyyyy over-rated, and more a commercial model or a model you’d see in “playboy” than in magazines like Vogue and so forth. I think on the blog where they ripped her apart they went too far, but I personally think her body is a bit flabby and not an inspiration. I know I’d rather be more toned than flabby, which I think she is a little.
