Call us crazy, but looking like a life-size doll was never a beauty aspiration of ours. But apparently this trend is gaining widespread popularity across the world and teen vloggers and bloggers alike are developing a large fan base of young women trying to replicate their doe-eyed look.

Dakota Rose (known to her fans as Kota Koti) has been donned the real-life Barbie thanks to her wide-eyed stare and tiny pout. She has developed a large following in Asia where the Japanese anime culture is idolized and her how-tos for long, straight hair and big eyes fit right in.

No one knows much about Dakota Rose, where she is from or how old she is, but some critics have a lot to say about the young girl’s popularity.

Dr. Gray, clinical director at The British CBT & Counseling Service warned the Daily Mail that “too much emphasis on physical appearance from an early age could have disastrous consequences, encouraging anxiety, depression and eating disorders later in life.” But even worse than the mental effects this could have on a young girl, some believe it could encourage the sexualization of children.

“Distorting or enhancing pictures of children so that they appear older and more sexual surely crosses the line between how we should treat the children in our society and how we should not,” said Dr. Gray.

Do you think idolizing this “doll-like” look could be harmful to the younger generation? Does this look sexualize young girls? Plus, does it say something (perhaps scary) about the YouTube generation that this trend has garnered such a following?  Tell us in the comment section below!

why is no one seeing the photoshop here?? I think we’re being trolled by whoever is running that blog.

    1. Amanda says:

I agree that there is some level of photoshop, but regardless, do you think she is sexualizing childlike features?

    2. guest says:

If it is a case of photoshop then why are there still bruises on her legs in the one picture?

      1. Molinod says:

to make it look real even though some of it isnt

    3. guest says:

This woman’s use of photoshop and After Effects is well documented. She doesn’t look anything like that in reality…. she is also over 18 but pretends to be 16 which is quite creepy.

please, try to read the article before you comment.
also this is not the first time i see a doll-like girl.

  2. Claire10 says:

This harajuku style has always been very popular in Japan! Japanese girls of all ages wear this kind of fashion and they have no identity problems. I don’t see the big deal, it’s just cosplay!

    1. Chaeli says:

It’s a big deal only because there are a lot of people in the US who are not comfortable with it. It’s just people over exaggerating the negatives of things they don’t particularly like. It happens every time some trend from overseas starts popping up here.

  6. She's real ! - i think says:

i’ve seen her youtube videos and she really looks like this ! how can someone photoshop a video … and … a makeup video … she touches her face like a million times – it’s inpossible to be photoshoped !!! She’s just beautiful … i guess

    1. ladychel says:

Beautiful? That’s just disgusting. She has the body of a little boy. Any little bit of boob/skin she has, has been taped up in the cleavage pic. Or it’s surgically/digitally enhanced. Gross!

      1. Ambreen18 says:

Lol, so true. She looks like a middle school boy, with a wig and make-up on. :/ I don’t like how she wants people to look at her for the fact she looks like a doll: has she heard of pedophilia? O__O Then again, she doesn’t look that smart to care.

      2. oceansky201 says:

Haha, the things you jealous women tell yourselfs would make a great expose on the meaning of what delusional behavior is like. Just because she’s unusual (even if some is shopped) and isn’t a cow doesn’t mean she has the body of a boy. I’m not the average. I’ve been studying figures, shapes etc for quite a while now. She has curves no boy would have even if he were on massive amounts of female hormones. Get real, lol.

  7. Logo4245 says:

She is a naturally beautiful girl with unusually large eyes. She adds makeup to the eyes to accentuate their size and wears some sort of contact lenses that almost obscure her pupils. The contacts and lip gloss work together to achieve the doll look. Work with what you got, girl!!!

  8. Me says:

I’ve been to 3 news websites  today to read 3 articles (non-related to each other). Each one was nothing more than regurgitating a Daily Mail  article. What the fuck is going on? Daily Mail can fuck off and so can every two-bit journalist who can’t come up with their own material to fulfill their shitty non-jobs.

  9. A_voice_in_the_dark says:

    lol

  10. Edohiguma says:

She’s “news” in Japan because she’s a white chick doing this. Ok, she’s not really news at all. She’ll be on some crappy morning and variety shows, and within a few months she will be forgotten again. Especially with her awful Japanese pronunciation.

  11. Jingjing987123 says:

This woman looks very beautiful, but I can’t see whether she’s using PS

    1. Kardes21 says:

Don’t think she’s more than just a girl, though.

  12. Linece_celine24 says:

    she’s like a barbie doll!!!

  13. Emeegurl says:

if this was a photoshop job why not cover the bruises on her legs?

  14. Hollywood 256 says:

What in the ham sandwhich is going on here??

  15. I don’t know if it’s harmful but she’s giving me nasty ideas :)

  16. Kardes21 says:

    She has huge eyes.

  17. Guest says:

My answers to the questions above: Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes, the young generation is getting brain-washed by the media, fashion and celebrities.

  18. Doreenasbwi says:

Does she Photoshop her videos too, then??  Because she looks like that in her vids on Youtube also.

  19. C.A. says:

Those legs and arms look skin and bone anorexic. I can understand if someone is small figured I had a friend growing up with a metabolism that causes her to look skinny to a gauntish point. She purposely gained weight for a fat paunch so she wouldn’t have to convince every new docter or health concious person she met she didn’t have a eating disorder. In these pictures of the legs the thickest part of the calf seems the same thickness as the ankle, that tells me theres barely any healthy muscle. Even if the doctor says your healthy now it’s walking a fine line with both very little fat and minimum muscle that’ll be a downfall in the long run. The only models I’ve ever heard of accomplishing this figure never exercise and either have my friend’s extreme metabolism or anorexic. Even the exaggerated proprotions of Barbie dolls (except the 70′s) have it’s curves detailed from fat and/or muscle to create shape instead of showing the skeleton. After all you can’t have real boobs without fat. She should see a doctor cause if the legs look that skinny then she’s probably wearing sleeves in every photo cause the arms which lose volume more easily look even worse and having to hide parts of yourself or being unhealthy by living off crumbs is more likely to make it extremely short term if not non-existant. In other words you’d be there just long enough to earn the  money for the medical bills.

  20. chris says:

Ugh. She doesn’t look like a doll, she looks like a 6 year old. No thanks, pedophila.

  22. Urlilqueen49 says:

She has videos where she looks exactly the same. Are you saying she photoshopped that too? She’s real. A little creepy but real.

  23. ashiee2012 says:

First of all, it’s not creepy…well, at least not to me. I don’t think its photoshopped either. Makeup, when used a certain way, can cause people to look a certain way and portray different concepts. If I’m not mistaken, her contact lenses she’s wearing are round contact lenses which are very popular in Asian fashion right now. They give off a very doe-eyed Lolita effect to the eye. You can get them in multiple colors, designs and they obscure the pupil so that it isn’t visible. I think the only “sick” thing here is people gathering on a site to talk about her and put her down on the internet. Cyber bullying is never ok…and in this case, the media is promoting it. Hundreds of girls around the world, mostly in Asia though, sport this makeup/fashion concept. So why can’t she?

  24. Ambreen18 says:

I don’t think it is photoshopped, but I do not want little girls wanting to be like THAT. First, it is kind of creepy, just kind of. Second, it’s unhealthy and little girls are already looking at other model figures and this just doesn’t help (because of her childish doll aim). And lastly, this does sexualize little girls and makes perverts happy, so I don’t want little girls to be interested in this. The only thing girls at this age should be interested are their hobbies, food, friends, boys, and school. Not turning into a creepy and unhealthy doll. >.< I feel sad for girls who think they should look like this to get approval from others!!

  25. Vicky says:

guys. dont get fooled. i spend an hour reading this blog made especially to tell and reveal her photoshopping. trust me, none of those pictures are real. its all photoshopped. theres a interview video of her, search it up on youtube, she looks nothing like that.

  26. qwertyuiop says:

    so much makeup . . .

  27. Of course there’s photoshop, but then again, she does use a looooooot of makeup to get that doll look.
Her eyes are already large and her mouth is really small, still she uses long fake lashes below the inferior lash line among other techniques to make them bigger and to make her mouth look even smaller.

I believe she’s probably about 18, she’s known on the internet for a long time, since she was 13 or 15, she used to take pictures with her sister “Kiki Kannibal”, they’re a bit weird but then again, different people are interesting to me.

I don’t think it has much influence on young girls, the real Barbie is a much stronger image, the Harajuku style is very appreciated in Japan, I guess it’s just strange for westerns sometimes.
I find her interesting and am impressed by her makeup skills. :)
